Tag creation from SMS screen

You can now create a new tag from the SMS screen as you read a message, without having to leave the flow.

Editing & deleting transactions

You can now edit and delete transactions that are displayed on a tag's screen. Simply tap on a transaction to view these options.

New user feedback UI

Your feedback is crucial to improving BudgetMaker. From the app's settings, you can now contact us through a redesigned and more user-friendly feedback form, where you can report a problem, ask a question, or request a new feature.

To enhance data security and to prevent loss of your records, we've significantly improved the app's sync interval to the database. This ensures your budget details, tags, transactions, and reports are always up-to-date across all your devices, even if you reinstall the app or log in elsewhere.

Navigation Improvements

We've improved the app's navigation to better align with your expectations. Now, the back button lets you move through the app without closing it unintentionally. If you want to close the app, simply use the back button when you are on the Home screen.

Mid-transaction Tag Creation

You can now create new tags directly from the transaction-tag selection screen. This streamlined process allows you to create and use the new tag for your transaction without having to switch between tabs.

Update Available Screen

You will now be notified on the app when a new update is available. This pop-up allows you to review the update details or download the latest version. It is now easier to stay up-to-date with all the new features, improvements, and fixes we release frequently.

Our mission at BudgetMaker is to make budgeting and expense tracking simple, fun and effective. A big part of achieving this is reducing the time it should take you to record your expenses. With this new release, you can now sync BudgetMaker to your M-PESA messages, saving you even more time.

While still protecting your privacy, this feature picks up most of the data you would previously need to manually enter - the amount spent, payment date, date, and time. You only need to select a tag…for now.

M-PESA Stats

The M-PESA sync feature unlocks even more insights into your spending. You can now see how much you have spent using M-PESA in the current day, week, and month as well as your Top 5 M-PESA transactions.

This release brings improvements to the app's speed. Thanks to local caching, the app now stores your data on your device. This means that the next time you open the app, it won't have to fetch that information from the BudgetMaker database, saving you time and making the overall experience smoother.

Avatar

Now, you can personalize your profile with a custom image. Add your preferred picture as your avatar to make your profile uniquely yours.

Improvements

• Notifications can now be more finely controlled. Besides turning them off completely, you can now set the specific time you'd like to receive daily transaction reminders and weekly progress updates.

Fixes

• Fixed app crashes when viewing transaction details.

• Fixed an issue where the currency prefix showed as "none" in various instances. This occurred when you initially closed the app during setup without selecting a currency and then returned to the app.

This week, we have redesigned the home page spending metrics to give you better insights into your spending. There are now three cards shown on your home screen, depending on the case:

Current month spending: This pie chart only displays when you record transactions without a budget.

Budgeted spending: Represented by a horizontal progress bar, this shows your spending for tags included in an active budget.

Spending not in budget: This list displays spending for tags not included in a budget you have created.

We have also added a card that displays only if you have never recorded a transaction.

• Updated UI spacing across sections of the app.

• Added a create budget button on the budget page if you do not have an active budget.

Fixes

• Fixed an issue that would cause past budgets to flash briefly.

• Fixed a bug where you could not select one budget type when creating a budget.

You can now record transactions immediately after creating an account without creating a budget first. If you create a budget after this, the transactions you have recorded prior will be counted against that budget only if the tag was included in the budget and the transaction is from the budget month.

10 starting tags

We have added a total of 10 tags for you when you create an account. Now, you can start recording your expenses even faster than before. As always, you can edit or delete these tags or add more.

Single-month budgets

Create a budget for the current month, which is especially handy if you start using the app days into the month. This makes it possible to just budget for the expenses you need for the rest of the month.

• Removed scrollbar displaying when you scroll on screens with long content.

• Improved the budget creation flow for when your previous budget expires.

You can now change your active currency in BudgetMaker to 180+ options even after setting up a budget and recording transactions. This means that you can now use BudgetMaker across different countries while traveling or changing residence.

• Added blank states for when you have no tags or budgets created during the account creation process.
